For Amy

For Amy

The darkest night,

there's still a spark,

there's still an angel in the dark.

The broken hearts,

there's still a beat,

there's still your song heard on the street.

The emptiness,

no void to fill,

there's no silence left to kill.

The hardest word,

the deepest sigh,

the hardest word

is goodbye.

The words unsung,

the chords unplayed,

the funny joke you never made.

The toughest war,

the fatal blow,

the very reason, we'll never know.

A soul so weak,

A heart so brave

You take to your Camden grave.

The hardest word,

the deepest sigh,

the hardest word

is goodbye.

Forever on Your Face

Under the weather
and over the hill,
Searching for the one
keeps me young still.
With my eyes wide open -
heart even more,
Treading that tightrope
'Til my toes are sore.
So, will you be my reason
to stay in the same place?
Because I would wait forever
to see forever on your face.

Happy Little Hitler

Happy Little Hitler

Shane Joseph Telford

You haven't conquered Europe yet
and your arms are wearing thin.
Sitting in your sunchair
just taking the world in

And you dream of domination,
so tonight I'll play the slave.
A pretty little punchbag,
I promise I'll behave.

You're a happy little Hitler
as long as you're at war
but I don't think this Hitler
knows what he's fighting for.
You're MY happy little Hitler,
always looking for a fight.
I love my Little Hitler
but please, no battlefield tonight!

You have a knack for winning,
no matter what the price.
You want your name remembered.
Well, wouldn't that be nice?

I'm definitely no Eva,
I'm not that strong inside
And if the world's against us,
we'll dine on cyanide.

You're a happy little Hitler
as long as you're at war
but I don't think this Hitler
knows what he's fighting for.
You're MY happy little Hitler,
always looking for a fight.
I love my Little Hitler
but please, no battlefield tonight!

Heart on a Page

Reading old diaries that I have compiled,

I saw something small - and I smiled.

The smallest of hearts, all coloured in red

And beside it a poem, a poem that said

We were forever, we were a team,

We were a match made in a dream.

Forever has faded unlike that red heart,

It sewed us together and ripped us apart

And that heart on the page that I fondly drew

Is the only thing I didn’t give you.

Reading those diaries brought everything back,

The smallest of feelings – the slightest of cracks,

And that little heart, all coloured in ink

Fills up my eye, each time that I blink.

What happened forever? What happened that team?

What happened that match that was made in a dream?

Forever has faded unlike that red heart,

It sewed us together and ripped us apart

And that heart on the page that I fondly drew

Is the only thing I didn’t give you.

I don’t draw a heart now,

I don’t write your name,

You don’t have the patience,

I know I’m to blame.

So, I’ll keep that poem

And that heart at the side

As a trophy of you

And the tears that I’ve cried.

Us Two Are An Army

If there's a dagger in your back
I'll have the stitches sewn
and put you back together,
so I won't walk alone.
If there's a worry on your mind
I'll put that fret to sleep
and wrap you up inside me,
you're my happiness to keep.
If there's a fever on your forehead
I'll be your antidote,
I'll offer you my water
and you will stay afloat.
If there's anything else needed,
I'll break my back to find
whatever makes you happy
and keeps me on your mind.

We can't be defeated.
We won't fall apart.
Us two are an army
And we have been from the start

Little Heaven

by Shane Joseph Telford

I feel a little heaven
when your hand squeezes mine
and fingers intertwine.
I hear a little heaven
when your breath hits my ear
and whispers "have no fear."
I taste a little heaven
when my lips touch yours too
and kiss each inch of you.
I smell a little heaven
just lying on your chest,
my senses get no rest.
I see a little heaven
when our eyes dance a waltz,
we don't see each other's faults.

You are my little heaven,
my only saving grace.
I love my little heaven.
I love that little place.

The Simple Things

I'd love to wake up every day
and lose my breath
just straight away,
get lost in eyes without a care,
and laugh when you play with my hair.
I'd love to hold you forever tight
and protect you
from pain and plight,
learn off by heart your every sigh
and love you til the day you die.
I'd love to bury you with love
and know that I'm
what you think of.
To love and lose would be a sin
so open up and let me in.
